To Improve Public Safety, Rescue Austin From the City Council

Remove Austin’s city council from governing the Austin Police Department and reassign Austin Police Department intact as a stand-alone division within the Texas Department of Public Safety.

  • Have APD Chief of Police answer to DPS Director, NOT the city manager.
  • Have DPS Commission, NOT the city council, set the APD budget.
  • Fund through a portion of Austin city sales tax revenue.
